With its combination of luxury, culture, and gastronomy, the Wine Tasting Cruise: Wines of Greece is the perfect getaway for wine enthusiasts. Book your adventure today and savor the flavors of Greece in a truly unforgettable way.
Your journey begins in Athens, Marina Zeas, Athens at (3-4 PM) where you will board the elegant Panorama. Begin as you mean to go on with a welcome glass of sparkling wine while you meet your crew and fellow passengers. After settling in, we sail to Tinos Island. Enjoy your first wine tasting session onboard, guided by an expert sommelier.
The island of Tinos, home to more than 700 churches and a deeply spiritual heritage, is fast becoming one of Greece’s most exciting wine destinations. Our day begins with a visit to Volacus Winery, a rising star in Tinos’ wine scene. Nestled among striking granite boulders, its vineyards thrive in a dramatic landscape unlike anywhere else in the Aegean.
Here, you’ll sample outstanding Assyrtiko and Malagousia wines, admired for their freshness, minerality, and balance. The tasting unfolds against sweeping island views that perfectly complement the flavors in your glass.
Later, unwind with a swim stop in a secluded bay, weather permitting — a serene pause surrounded by Aegean blues.
As evening falls, enjoy dinner on board followed by a Greek wine tasting experience, featuring both local Tinian wines and selected international varietals as we set sail toward Samos.
Overnight at sea.
This morning, we dock in Pythagorion, the historic port named after the great mathematician Pythagoras. From here, our journey takes us inland to Vakakis Winery, where traditional methods meet modern techniques to craft the island’s famous sweet and dry wines. Samian wines are renowned for their rich aromas, balanced acidity, and distinct Mediterranean character.
A delightful lunch in the village of Platanos follows, where local wines pair beautifully with authentic island cuisine. Spend the afternoon exploring Pythagorion’s charming harbor, stroll along its seafront cafés, or simply relax by the water.
This evening, our onboard tasting highlights the unique wines of Chios and Ikaria, islands once celebrated in antiquity for producing some of the Mediterranean’s most coveted vintages.
Overnight at sea.
Begin the day with a refreshing morning swim stop before a leisurely onboard lunch as we approach Santorini, Greece’s most iconic wine island.
Santorini’s volcanic soil produces world-famous wines, especially Assyrtiko, known for its crisp, mineral-driven profile. Our visit to Argyros Winery, one of the island’s most prestigious estates, offers a guided tasting of award-winning vintages crafted from century-old vines. Experience the extraordinary terroir that gives Santorini wines their character — a perfect harmony of sea, sun, and volcanic earth.
Return to the ship for a gourmet dinner paired with Santorini’s finest wines, as we sail onward to Milos.
Overnight at sea.
Awaken in Milos, where the Aegean shimmers in brilliant turquoise. Begin your day with a swim stop in one of Milos’ crystal-clear bays — dive straight from the yacht into tranquil waters.
Later, discover the island’s unique volcanic landscape and secluded coves before visiting Konstantakis Winery, a charming family-run estate producing elegant, character-filled wines shaped by Milos’ mineral-rich soils. Enjoy a guided tasting showcasing the authenticity and warmth of local winemaking. Tonight, indulge in a Cretan wine dinner curated by your onboard wine host, Tim Clarke, featuring a selection of premium wines from Crete’s emerging vineyards.
Overnight at sea.
Step back in time with a visit to Mycenae, one of Greece’s most important archaeological sites and a cornerstone of ancient civilization. Next, our journey continues to Nemea, Greece’s premier red-wine appellation and home to the noble Agiorgitiko grape.
We begin at Gaia Winery, a pioneer in modern Greek winemaking, where elegant, structured reds showcase the essence of Nemea’s terroir. Then, at Semeli Winery, enjoy a tasting of Nemea and Mantineia wines paired with a winemaker’s lunch — a culinary highlight celebrating the flavors of the Peloponnese.
In the afternoon, we set sail for Marina Zeas, where our farewell dinner awaits on board. Tonight’s tasting features a final selection of Peloponnesian wines — the perfect toast to an unforgettable Greek wine voyage.
Overnight at sea.
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast on board before disembarking in Athens at 8:00 AM.
For guests extending their stay, an optional Athens excursion blends history, culture, and fine wine. Visit Kokotos Estate, a boutique winery in the Attica countryside, where Savatiano and Cabernet Sauvignon wines reflect the elegance and depth of the region. After a guided tasting and lunch, transfer comfortably to the city center to continue your Athens adventure.
(Optional tour returns to central Athens in time for flights departing after 6:00 PM.)
Variety Cruises are pleased to announce the first of our new Wine Cruises of Greece. This journey takes us to many of the Greek wine hotspots including Nemea, Santorini, and Tinos. Wine and the making of it is central to this voyage, but as we follow its trail we’ll also discover the limestone crags and wild mountains of the Peloponnese, the breathtaking views of Santorini, and the quieter villages of the Cyclades and Eastern Aegean islands.
We’ll meet leading winemakers, taste at top wineries, and enjoy dinners paired with a specially chosen selection of wines - each exploring the superb native grape varieties of Greece’s many diverse regions.
This exploration will illustrate how the wines of Greece have emerged as some of the most interesting and exciting in the world over the past 25 years, with changes at least as profound as those that have taken place in Chile and New Zealand.
Our on board chef will design classic and regional fare, matching intense local flavours with the unique and varied wines.
In case of severe weather conditions our expertly designed routes are adjusted ensuring your safety & comfort by applying our rich marine knowledge, garnered since 1949.
